Vancouver Lisp Users Group meeting for May
Tuesday, May 16, 2006
Hopefully, the projector at Think! will be ready in time for this
month's meeting. If not, we'll need to network a few computers like we
did last time.
Here's the "official" meeting notice:
Topic: Surviving Emacs
Presenter: Bill Clementson
Date: Wednesday, May 31, 2006
Time: 7pm - 10pm (or whenever)
Venue:
Think!, 4512 West 10th Ave., Vancouver (see
map)
Summary: Ok, you've seen the "Surviving Emacs" blog entries
(broken down into
Part 1,
Part 2,
Part 3, and
Part 4). Well, this month's meeting will be "Surviving Emacs -
the live show" (to be followed by "Surviving Emacs - the video") ;-)
Bill Clementson (that's me!) will be giving a presentation about some
of the RSI-related dangers associated with prolonged computer use (in
general) and Emacs use (in particular) and will discuss ways to deal with some
of these problems. Since Emacs (or an Emacs-like editor) is the editor of choice for most
Lispers, learning how to deal with extensive Emacs use is important
for both our health and our careers. Naturally, the presentation will
be given from within Emacs itself!
Mark your calendars and we'll see you on May 31!
Update-2006-05-21: This meeting was originally scheduled for
May 25th. However, due to a scheduling conflict, the venue is
double-booked for that date. Therefore, the meeting date has been
changed to May 31. Note that this is a Wednesday. Also, it has
been confirmed that the projector is now working again, so we won't
need extra laptops for networking.
