Lispers Sweep the Jolt Awards!
Thursday, March 16, 2006
As was
first noted on
c.l.l., Peter Seibel's book
Practical Common Lisp has won a "Productivity Award" in
the SD Magazine
Jolt awards in the category "Books Technical". Since others (see
here,
here,
here) have already commented on this, I didn't want to just post
another "me too" congratulations to Peter (but, Congratulations
Peter!)
However, what has not been pointed out on any Lisp blog (so this is a
scoop!) is that two other Lispers also
won a Jolt award.
Ron Goldman and
Richard Gabriel won a
"Productivity Award" in the "Books General" category for their book
Innovation Happens Elsewhere: Open Source as Business Strategy. I
had recently recommended their book to a former colleague as I felt
it was an excellent resource on Open Source Software as a business
model (both stand-alone and in conjunction with commercial
closed-source software). For anyone considering ways to incorporate
OSS into a business, this is a fabulous book (Note: There is a Sun interview with Richard and Ron that talks
about their book a bit
here and some other comments on the book
here,
here,
here).
Both books are available online as well:
