Symbolics domain name is #1

An interesting Lisp trivia tidbit
popped up on the #lisp IRC channel. A
list of the 100 oldest
currently-registered .com domains shows that
"symbolics.com" is #1 - it is the oldest still-registered .com
domain name on the Internet! Too bad the
Symbolics lispm didn't have the
same longevity as the domain name. :-(

subsequent discussion on #lisp
highlighted that the "symbolics.com" domain name wasn't just "the
oldest still-registered .com domain name", it was also the "first
registered domain name"! Another page on this is
here. The symbolics.com domain name was registered on March 15,
1985. Bruce Carleton also
pointed this out to me via email (the
