Inaugural Toronto Lisp User Group Meeting
Monday, November 22, 2004
Tonight, we had the inaugural Toronto Lisp User Group meeting. I was
in Toronto to visit the University of Toronto with my daughter and therefore was also
able to meet with 6 other Lispers in a congenial setting in downtown
Toronto. There was one additional Lisper whom I met with on Sunday
but whom was unable to attend the meeting because he was underage (16
years old). So, there is definitely a (growing) group of Lisp users
in Toronto!
We had a few beers and dinner and discussed a range of topics. It's
all a bit of an alcoholic haze at the moment, but I remember we
discussed embedded Lisp, Franz ACL licensing, how to get free Lisp
t-shirts, web programming with Lisp, Emacs vs Vi, APL
and Forth, Lisp user groups, and world peace (we solved world peace,
but the proof will not fit in the margin of this web page ;-)
).
There were two Lispers with a lot of Lisp experience and four
Lispers who were interested in Lisp and had varying degrees of
experience with it. Everyone agreed that future meetings should be
held and Eric Moncrieff bravely volunteered to take on the responsibility of
creating an
ALU Wiki Toronto Lisp Users Group page and coordinating the next
meeting.
I look forward to hearing about the future exploits of this group!
