Go ahead, eat the apple - use Lisp

Recently, lemonodor pointed to the Introducing Python video. Regardless of what you think about Python, it's quite entertaining to watch. There is a good quote about 4:09 into the video by Eric Raymond:
"Some computer languages simply amplify the kind of thinking that you already do. Some computer languages teach you fundamentally new ways of looking at problems. Python is like Lisp in that it tends to teach you new ways of thinking about problems to broaden your mental horizons."This never ceases to amaze me - why use a language "like Lisp"? Why not just "use Lisp"? Are people afraid that it's sinful to use such a powerful language? Maybe they should just listen to the snake: "Go ahead, eat the apple" but do a phrase switch: "s/eat the apple/use Lisp/". They may find that, instead of being thrown out of paradise, they enter into it! ;-)
