Lisp User Group meeting in Amsterdam (on video?)

Thursday, September 23, 2004

Arthur Lemmens announced the next Amsterdam Lisp meeting (to be held this Sunday, September 26) a few days ago. I've been having a look at the agenda for the meeting and it looks like a terrific session:

It really looks more like a mini-conference than a user group meeting - wish I lived a bit closer to Amsterdam. Let's see how I could swing it: British Airways has a special on flights from Denver to London this month, US$198 one way. If I flew out on Friday night and caught the channel ferry, I could be in Amsterdam by Saturday evening. Catch the ferry back on Monday morning, connect to the return BA flight and be back in Denver in time for Doug's Denver Lisp User Group presentation and only miss one day of work! Hmmm, tempting... :-) But, with flights, ferry, hotel, etc, I would be out-of-pocket about US$1,000.

Alternatively, it looks like Tayssir John Gabbour might be going to make some videos of the presentations. This sounds like a really good idea and I hope it starts a trend. Even if it costs a few bucks, it would save me a lot of money (over the cost of physically attending) and I would get to see some great presentations that I would otherwise have missed. I wonder if there will be wide-screen and director's cut versions of the video as well? ;-) If you are interested in a video, how about sending an email to Arthur Lemmens and/or Tayssir John Gabbour so that they have an idea of the level of interest.
