New Blog location

I decided to change the location of my weblog as well as the software
I use to generate it. Please update your links:
New blog location:

New RSS feed location:

I now use
Blogmax with Emacs for my blogging.
There were a number of reasons for this:
- I set up my weblog in the root directory of my site. This was a mistake as all of the archives went there as well, making a bit of a mess - and I'm a tidy sorta guy ;-). Now, all of the files associated with my weblog are located in the blog directory.
- I got tired of using blogger as my weblog creation tool. Here are some of
the reasons why:
- Lack of control over the different custom tags that are used by the blogger templates.
- I *hate* browser-based editors and specialized off-line weblog editors. They're just another editor that I've got to work with and I'd rather just use Emacs.
- I didn't like having individual daily/weekly/monthly links for my blog archives. A calendar is a much more space-efficient way of accessing archives.
- Inability to script or automate activities in blogger.
- To add links to the sidebar, you have to edit the template in blogger - this is a bit of a hassle.
- Poor permanent link support in blogger - you can only link to the date of a posting, not a specific post.
- I am very productive in Emacs and prefer to use it instead of a whole bunch of different tools.
In switching over to Blogmax, I've also converted all of my archives to the new format. This will mean that previous postings will be available without having to swap back and forth between the old blog and the new one. Since I've changed the location of the blog, I've decided to keep the old blog's archive files online (at least for the time being) in case anyone has linked to them. I've posted a redirection notice in my old blog's page as well as the old blog's RSS feed so that people will be able to find the new blog's location.
Please update any links that point to the old blog now.
