Catching up after the vacation
Sunday, January 4, 2004
I just returned from a 1-week vacation during which I didn't have access to email or the internet. I thought that nothing much interesting would be posted over the holidays anyhow - boy, was I mistaken. Here are some of the more interesting things that I've come across so far while I've been catching up on things:
- A good comp.lang.scheme thread discussing material about macros.
- O'Reilly is going to publish a new book in May called Hackers and Painters which will contain a lot of essays by Paul Graham.
- Chris Double has resumed posting to his blog after a gap of several months. Glad to see that, as I always enjoy reading his posts. He mentions that the continuation-based web framework that he recently developed in Scheme was a commercial effort. It would be interesting to hear some of the background to the project.
- There's an interesting thread on LtU about Bach and Software Composition.
- Eli Barzilay has announced that the nightly build page for PLT Scheme now has installers for different platforms - this means that taking a CVS install of PLT Scheme is as easy as taking a normal release. This will undoubtedly help out with getting early feedback on enhancements to PLT Scheme as it will make it easier for people to get a CVS install on their machine.
