No good elevator pitch

Thursday, September 25, 2003

It seems that, although a lot of people are interested in the use of continuations for web applications programming, nobody has yet come up with an elevator pitch explanation of their benefits. There is a thread on comp.lang.scheme" where Tom Lord asks:

"Will someone briefly describe, providing high-level yet persuasive details, why full continuations are a particularly well-suited feature for web applications programming? What are the relevent idioms; why are they particularly well suited for web apps vs other applications; what alternatives would apply if full continuations were not provided; why are those alternatives distinctly less desirable?"
He seems to be getting a number of good answers.
